ABOUT THE “Arise, SHINE” BOOKSHELF

Return

The “bookshelf” web page is the “talking” version of Gary L. Selman’s book of devotionals for Christians in the Workplace, “Arise, SHINE, Be Encouraged”.  It contains the same material as the print version.

Use this version with your computer or other device and a browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Actual audio playback will be through your device’s audio player, meaning the player installed with your operating system, and not a music program like “iTunes”. For the “technically-aware” person, this means most Windows-10 or Apple OS-X or Mojave computers.

The bookshelf looks its best when viewed on a desktop browser like Chrome, but is functional also on Safari or Opera.

HOW TO FIND A DEVOTIONAL

Each chapter covers a different theme. To access a chapter click on a volume number.

The first 4 books on your bookshelf include THIS "about" page, plus a foreword, a preface, and some comments by others.

You can scroll to all chapters, and all devotionals by name.

Devotional names appear under chapter titles.

how toA chapter's title is its theme.

Scroll up or down, or just click on any devotional. It plays automatically.

HOW TO PLAY A DEVOTIONAL

These instructions also apply to the forward, preface, final word, and praise selections: they play just as the devotionals do.

Next, you will see a new screen with a mini-player icon

plus some controls to stop or pause it.

Use the controls as indicated.  Typically the devotional will play for about 2 or 3 minutes.

Right-click on the player at any time for the option to download the recorded devotional to your device. (Right-click will show an option to “save link as”, meaning you can download it now.)

You have to close that screen when you’re finished listening.
Close the playback page to return to the bookshelf.

HOW TO LISTEN TO AN ENTIRE CHAPTER

A special-playback icon is at the top of each group of listings, just under the chapter name.
  instructions

Click the triangle-shaped button to play the entire chapter of devotionals. Click the 3-dot button to download and save an entire chapter.

(We’ve inserted a little “ding-chime” to set off the beginning of each devotional in series. )

Since you’ll probably want to capture the entire file and download it

onto your smart phone or portable music player, do this:

(1) right-click the player,
(2) “copy audio address”
(3) paste the address into your browser,
(4) save it from there to a local folder.

We've attempted to make these basic instructions as straightforward and easy as we can.

This website-style interface to “reading” a talking book, has been a joint project of the Author, Gary L. Selman, Reader/Narrator, Frederick Gray, and Dennis Kelly, Co-Founder of Incenta LLC who provided direction and funding for this project. As brothers in Christ, we worked electronically and cooperatively from our home bases in Texas and Maryland. Every moment -- to fulfill His mission.

[Ephesians 4: 11-12] So Christ himself gave
the apostles ... and teachers, to equip
his people for works of service, so that
the body of Christ may be built up..."

Yes!

Amen.
